Hair Extensions and Preparing for an Important Event

Hair Extensions and Preparing for an Important Event

Brides and beauty queens alike look to hair extensions to give them a more polished and glamorous look. Hair doesn't grow overnight, so women need an alternative. By adding length and even fullness to enhance their appearance, they come across more confident and sometimes, more attractive. This process does take time, so it is important to schedule in advance and work out all the details before the big day.

Selecting a Style and Color

Most women already have some ideas in mind about how they want the hair extensions to look. When it comes to color, clients can choose to stick with their natural color or add something a little more dramatic. It takes time to choose the best color and ensure that it will be able to provide the desired results.

Once the color is established, a client needs to choose whether the hair needs to be straight or curly. Both looks can be achieved with an extension. However, if selecting curly, it is important to figure out the type of curl. For example, some women want soft curls, while others are looking for tighter, spiraling curls. This could add some extra time to the application process.

Preparing an Extension

Once the decision has been made for color and style, the work begins. Sometimes, the hair extensions will need a little extra work. For a curly look, a perm may be required to match a client's natural look. This takes time, so clients may want to set up a consultation in advance and then schedule an appointment another time shortly after for the application and completion.

Talking to a professional can give a woman a clear idea of what she should expect when it comes to preparing the hair extensions. Ask how long the process should take overall and whether or not two appointments is a more practical option. There is no reason to rush, if a client has planned well in advance.

Checking Out the Results

The time it takes for application depends on the method, as well as the amount of hair being added. Most professionals can give a woman an approximate time, but always set aside some time after the appointment, in case things run late. Along the way, temptation to look in the mirror can set in, but try to avoid looking until the process is complete.

When the work is done, it is important to examine the hair extensions. Make sure that they look natural and feel secure. If something goes wrong or just doesn't feel right, come in for a follow-up appointment. This is the main reason to avoid scheduling this type of appointment at the very last minute. If something does go wrong, there should be time to make the corrections before the event. At the very least, consider scheduling at least a week or two in advance of the big day. What is Your Skin Type and How Does This Affect Tanning

What is Your Skin Type and How Does This Affect Tanning

As we all know, too much ultra violet light is very dangerous. On the opposite side, too little ultra violet light is not good either. There have been numerous studies that show vitamin d deficiencies actually cause cancers. The key to having a healthy tan is moderation. In order to find the correct balance of ultra violet light (or tanning), one must first start with understanding your own skin's sensitivity to UV light. Having a good understanding will help optimize your tanning results and make sure you are getting not too little or too much UV exposure. The basic rule of thumb is that the lighter your skin, the less you should expose it to UV light. This does not only apply for indoor tanning but also for natural sunlight outdoors.

Skin Types:

I. This is the palest of skins. You cannot tan without burning if you are a Skin Type I. Skin Type I persons usually have red or blond hair and blue eyes. DO NOT UV TAN UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! It is recommended that if you need some color for a special event coming up that you try Sunless Spray Tanning. This will give you a natural looking tan for 7-10 days without the risks of UV light on such fair skin. It is important that you only choose the lightest color available. If you choose a medium or dark spray tan, your tan will look unnatural since you will probably only turn orange.

II. If you are a Skin Type II, your skin will sunburn easily but can develop a tan. Although this Skin Type will develop a tan, it will take longer and it is important to avoid overexposure. You most likely have blond to medium brown hair color and blue, green or grey eyes. If you were looking for a darker color, the best way to achieve it would be to rotate between sun beds and sunless spray tanning. For the initial UV tan visit, we would recommend only going up to 33% of tanning unit's maximum minutes. For spray tanning, we recommend the light setting. Once you develop a darker tan, you can select medium setting.

III. Skin Type III is the most common skin type in North America. You can tan easily but can still sunburn. Because this Skin Type can still sunburn easily, overexposure is still highly possible. Hair color is typically dark with green or light brown eyes. The initial UV tan would be no more than 40-45% of tanning unit's maximum minutes. If you choose spray tanning, go for it. You will look great at any color setting.

IV. For someone with a Skin Type IV, they will almost never burn and tan very easily. Although a Skin Type IV can tan easily, they are still susceptible to overexposure. Usually have dark brown or black hair and dark brown eyes. The initial UV tan should not be for more than 50-55% of tanning unit's maximum minutes. Spray tanning will look awesome!

V. A person with brownish skin that can tan while exposed to sunlight is a Skin Type V. They rarely sunburn, but have a slight chance of overexposure. Hair and skin color is black. Their first UV tan should not exceed 60-70% of tanning unit's maximum tan time.

During your first visit to a Tanning Salon, make sure they are a member of local tanning association and have Smart Tan certified staff that will get you to fill out a Skin Type Quiz and will recommend your best option depending on prior tanning experience. After your initial tan, every time you come in the staff will recommend how long you should tan for and will help determine an exposure schedule that will help to achieve maximum color and avoid overexposure. Don't forget to also try sunless spray tanning to enhance your UV color. Brittany Jackson is writting articles for Utan TheraSpa to inform and educate about what's happening in the tanning industry. How to Choose the Right Manicure Table

How to Choose the Right Manicure Table

Having a beauty salon, nail salon or a spa is never really easy. You need to find that perfect manicure table that a manicurist needs. A table is used to give the best service as much as possible, giving comfort not only to the costumer but also to the manicurist. Purchasing these tables can be costly if you don't know where to start. If you're on a tight budget, you can save a lot by visiting other foreclosed salons. Imagine designing them to suit the needs of your manicurist that may not be at all times right handed. You can also change the size, add drawers or lighting. Having them in the exact color that matches your salons' theme could be exciting. On the other hand, you can always buy new ones if you have the budget and if you think that it is the thing for you. There are 2 types of manicure table, foldable, fixed or mobile. They can be made of different materials like wood, plastic, fiber or steel. If your salons' space is limited you might want the foldable type, if you need it easily moved, you can never go wrong with the movable type. Most fixed tables are really heavy but there is enough room for much of the manicurist stuff because it has a lot of drawers. Lists of things are needed in a manicure table and it is vital that you have an idea about it. Everything must be in place and there should be a complete set of things needed for a manicure like towels, creams, lotions, nail polish etc. Another important thing is a power strip. A lot of tools that are often used need power. These will provide ease and organised work if placed rightly at the table.

Manicure tables can make or break the whole salon so it is import that it is of good quality. Why You Should Consider Micro derma brasion at Home

Why You Should Consider Micro derma brasion at Home

micro derma brasion is a great way to rejuvenate your skin and restore a healthy, youthful glow. This popular cosmetic dermatology procedure is used to combat sun damage, light scarring and discoloration by gently buffing off the top layer of skin. This helps to stimulate collagen production which in turn spurs new growth for a younger-looking, fresher complexion. micro derma brasion's continued surge in popularity these days is due in large part to the development of products that enable people to do this treatment in the privacy and comfort of their own homes. Products like creams, solutions and buffing wands eliminate the need to see pricey dermatologists. Virtually painless and downtime free, at-home micro derma brasion is an excellent option for value-minded folks who favor convenience and the privacy of their own home.

One of the great things about micro derma brasion at home is that you don't need a fancy toolkit or a ton of products to achieve great results. People who want a simple, one-step procedure will love Decleor's Phytopeel Exfoliating Cream, which is the at-home version of the same product used in spas. Made of natural ingredients, this exfoliating cream gently removes dull, dead skin cells while cleaning the skin for a smooth, radiant result. All you need to do is apply a medium layer to your dry face and neck and let the cream dry a bit. Then, use upward circular motions to exfoliate while holding your skin taut. When finished, remove excess cream with water or Decleor's Aroma Cleaner Tonifying Lotion. Decleor's Phytopeel Exfoliating Cream should be used 2-3 times per week for best results.

Another good simple at home micro derma brasion kit that does not involve scrubbing tools is the ClickR Skin Care No More Derma Drama Two-Piece Set. This two piece set includes their Daily Dermabrasion Wash and Vanishing Mist. The wash is made with four key ingredients, Vitamin E, avena sativa (oat) kernal extract, panthenol pro vitamin B5 and vitis vinifera (grape seed extract), each of which provides a key benefit to your skin. Vitamin E and vitis vinifera both have antioxidant properties that help skin look younger by combating free radicals that can cause early aging. Meanwhile, avena sativa extract and panthenol B5 are the two main ingredients for moisturing skin while you wash.

For the Vanishing Mist, the three key ingredients are all about providing soothing moisture. Made with Aloe Barbdensis Leaf Juice, Cucmis Sativus (cucumber) and Allantoin, this mist is meant to soften skin, reduce puffiness and combat irritation.

To use the ClickR Skin Care No More Derma Drama set just apply a bit of the Daily Dermabrasion Wash and wash your face as usual. Once dry, follow it up with a spritz of the Vanishing Mist to seal in moisture. Two steps as easy as pie and you're on your way to more vibrant skin.

Folks who have a bit more time on their hands to make their at-home micro derma brasion treatment a spa-like experience will love the Starmaker Hollywood Red Carpet Makeover Kit. Developed by leading Hollywood make-up artist JoAnna Connell, this set includes the Micro Pearl Three-in-One Cleanser, Micro Pearl Abrasion and Overnight Skin Repair. It also comes with a reusable cosmetic bag and puff. To use, first wash your face with the Micro-Pearl Three-in-One Cleanser. Formulated with genuine silk and pearl, this cleanser gently removes makeup, cleanses, tones and hydrates skin. Next, follow with the Micro Pearl Abrasion by applying it with the Pearl Sponge and working it into skin with gentle circular upward motion for 3 to 5 minutes.

The last step is to apply a thin mask of the Overnight Skin Repair, allowing it to absorb into your skin for 10 to 15 minutes.

The Starmaker Hollywood Red Carpet Makeover Kit has been clinically proven to reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores and to improve skin radiance and firmness. For best results use the Micro Pearl Abrasion every night for a full week, wait five days and repeat. The Overnight Skin Repair should be used three times per week.

People who want an at-home micro derma brasion kit that is more like the treatment they would get at a spa or dermatologist's office can mimic the experience more closely with one that uses a buffing device rather than just creams and magic potions. One good option is the PMD Personal Microderm At Home System. The benefits of using a device-based at home micro derma brasion kit instead of just a chemical one is because physical exfoliation is a little more aggressive for a deeper treatment. This helps to unclog pores and diminish the appearance of wrinkles, brown spots, blackheads, blemishes and fine lines. It also helps pricey anti-aging potions get absorbed.

The PMD Personal Microderm At Home System includes the PMD portable, hand held micro derma brasion device, an AC Adapter, an instructional DVD and pamphlet, 10 blue fine grit exfoliating discs, eight green medium grit exfoliating discs, a large body cap and small facial cap and a pre-installed reusable filter. Before using this product, be sure to first watch the instructional DVD to avoid injury.

Though everyone deserves a relaxing spa day to escape from their stressed out lives, in the current economy most people can't afford to go on a regular basis. That's why one of the hottest trends is the at-home spa industry with micro derma brasion kits becoming more and more popular every day. Affordable and convenient, at-home micro derma brasion is you ticket to spa-worthy beautiful skin in the privacy of your own home. Jessica Norris is a freelance writer who writes about beauty and fashion including products like micro derma brasion at home.

Picture Perfect Series Fresh Faced Makeup How to

Picture Perfect Series Fresh Faced Makeup How to

Just because a girl loves color in her makeup doesn't mean she can't go without her favorite bombastic shades for a day. A fresh face does not have to be boring and contrary to what some people think, a lot more effort is put into creating this look than several other types that are more extravagant. The main reason for this is because clear, good skin is necessary to achieve it. In this installment of the Picture Perfect Series, I'll share some tips on how to rock the fresh faced effect, something which adds youth to any girl-at-heart out there.

1) Skincare, Skincare, Skincare

That's right. Skincare is of utmost importance for this look. Cleanse, tone, moisture, exfoliate, do a regular mask. Do whatever it takes to get this part right and the rest will be much easier. If you have acne, get rid of it. See a dermatologist. Go for facials. Invest in proper skincare. You might say that concealer is your best friend as it hides all your flaws. Yes, it does, especially if you've got a really good one. But let's say you have acne that protrudes 3mm from the surface of your skin. When the light - whether sunlight or indoor lighting - lands on your face from above, the bumps will be shown for all to see because they have shadows. And then suddenly, you're not so fresh anymore. You could apply 3mm thick of makeup on the rest of your face, but makeup that much is usually reserved for the opera.

2) Pick the Right Foundation

Once you've sorted out any serious skin issues, you can move on to getting the right second base. Choose a foundation that has at most a medium coverage to let your skin's natural glow shine through. If you have dry, mature skin, pick a liquid foundation that has a dewy finish. At the moment, I'm using BECCA's Boudoir Skin Mineral Powder. It does not clog pores and works well as a foundation for such a look.

3) Cheek Color

Stay away from heavy blush, bronze and contour powders. Pick something rosy and natural. Illuminating powders and creams work great to enhance the features of your face that pop out, and this adds dimension without going overboard. Areas to highlight include the cheekbones, the T-zone, the Cupid's bow and the chin. I recommend Laneige's latest Love in Bloom Sculpting Blusher, which acts more as a highlighter than a blush. The compact also has a brown shade, which you can use to contour and shape the nose without having it look too made-up and artificial.

4) Keep the Eyes Simple

Eyes are the windows to a girl's soul. There's no point in shrouding them in smoky mystery here. Use neutral shades just to add depth to the crease. To add a bit of life to your eyes, use shimmery eyeshadow shades. If you've got any of the Urban Decay Naked Palettes, this is a great opportunity to play around with the colors in there. Skip heavy eyeliner and mascara. Lashes should be kept light and simple - nothing feathery, congested or heavy. If you like colored contact lenses, go for it.

5) Gleaming Lips

Put some gloss on! You can either pick a gloss that is already colored, or you can use a lipstick or lip tint, followed by a layer of clear gloss in the middle of your lips. I prefer the latter because the color stays on longer, especially if tints are used. Maybe try your hands on Benetint, BECCA's Beach Tint, Clinique's Chubby Stick  moisture Lip Color Balm and YADAH's Angel Lip Tint and Cheek Stain.

What Are Age Spots and How to Treat Them

What Are Age Spots and How to Treat Them

Call them what you will, sun spots, liver spots, brown spots, cafe au lait spots, hyperpigmentation, lentigines or age spots, they are, however referred to, cosmetically unattractive and unwanted. Age Spots are particularly disliked because they are associated with older skin and ageing but this is not the only culprit. This unattractive more mottled complexion (hyperpigmentation) is usually the payback for years of sun-drenched vacations and SPF-less sunbathing. UV exposure throws dark-pigment-producing melanocyte cells into overdrive, and the melanin they make clusters into brown spots thus giving the mottled appearance so disliked.

In more serious situations, they can be due to impaired liver function or dietary and nutritional deficiencies. For example, as we age, our metabolism changes and the liver can become overwhelmed with toxins. If the liver cannot rid the body of these toxins, age spots can begin to develop. Oxidation within the body and a lack of antioxidants in the diet is said to play an important role in the development of age spots.

Normally speaking age spots are usually harmless, macular (flat), brown discolourations of the skin which usually appear on the back of the hands, neck and face of people above the age of 40. They are not contagious and not usually serious or dangerous although it is wise to have them checked by a doctor if any are irregular, increase in size or change in color, texture, itch or bleed. If any redness appears around them they could be a sign of solar keratosis and in unusual circumstances could be a sign of skin cancers.

They are predominantly caused by the accumulation of a yellow pigment called lipofuscin in the connective tissues of the body, due to ageing of the collagen-producing cells. When lipofuscin accumulates in the connective tissue of the skin, brown spots are the result. (When lipofuscin accumulates in the connective tissue of the retina of the eye, the result is age-related macular degeneration). The lipofuscin is most probably the remnant of incompletely degraded molecules from damaged cells.

Preventing damage to cells is the best approach to age spots and other problems from ageing. Using a sun block or products containing a high factor SPF is the best prevention as well as following a healthy diet, no smoking and minimal alcohol. Antioxidants are an important factor in helping prevent cellular damage from free radicals (highly reactive molecules that can destroy cellular compounds). Protective antioxidants include carotenes (present in most yellow vegetables), vitamins C and E (in fresh fruits and vegetables), selenium (in wheat germ), flavonoids (in blueberries, blackberries and cherries) and sulfur-containing amino acids (in legumes, eggs, garlic and onions). Increasing the amount of antioxidant foods in the diet, along with supplementation, will decrease cellular damage. Avoiding excessive external sources of free radicals, including fried and grilled foods, rancid fats, solvents, pesticides, air pollutants, radiation and petroleum-based products may also help. Whilst all of this might help or delay the appearance of age spots unfortunately appear they will due to natural ageing of the cells.

Treatment Options for Age Spots

There are many different treatments to minimize the appearance of age spots and hyperpigmentation in the skin. From basic make up concealers to lightening products including hydroquinone which is an ingredient for bleaching pigmentation. Glycolic acid and other such ingredients are used in chemical peels to minimize their appearance and laser resurfacing and IPL skin rejuvenation treatments can help in the fight against them. However sun protection will always be needed to be used following any of these treatments to avoid their reappearance.

Electrolysis treatment for Age Spots

Electrolysis treatment for age spots is a quick effective and easy method of removal where treatment is only focused on the blemish itself. An AC, HF, RF, Thermolysis or Short Wave Diathermy current is used (on a much lower setting than that would be used for hair removal). A tiny, fine electrolysis needle is loaded into the needle holder and scraped very lightly and gently across the surface of the age spot. This will have the result of very gently peeling off just the very top layer of pigmentation on the skin. A tiny test patch is first removed to view whether the discolouration of the pigmentation goes deep into the dermal layer of the skin. Providing this is not the case then treatment can go ahead and is usually extremely successful. Should the pigmentation be deeper then treatment will stop and no further action can be taken using electrolysis. There is little or no bleeding and a sensation of slight stinging during treatment with electrolysis. A scab will form which will heal and eventually fall away leaving good, non blemished skin underneath.

Based in Birmingham, UK, Sterex Electrolysis International Ltd. specialises in hair removal and provides different products for the medical and cosmetic industries. For more details about age spots removal treatment logon to Sterex.

Top 5 Mistakes in DIY Brazilian Waxing

Top 5 Mistakes in DIY Brazilian Waxing

Do it yourself (DIY) waxing in the comfort of your own home is an excellent way to save money and maintaining your own privacy. Many women nowadays prefer to DIY wax at home instead of doing it at a spa or salon by a professional as they can do it when they are free and yet still get the desired results. Waxing is an excellent way to get rid of unwanted body hair. The hair is ripped out of its follicle and the area will stay hairless for a few weeks depending on the hair growth and waxing process. Brazilian waxing is very popular nowadays. Depending on the individual, the hair around the bikini is either all removed or left with a strip in front. Although DIY waxing is not difficult, it is easy to make mistakes.

Temperature

The most important thing is to prevent burning yourself. One of the most common mistakes is that women tend to apply wax that is too hot directly to the skin, causing burn and bruises. Wax heats up quickly and it is easy to burn yourself. Always follow the instructions and make sure the temperature is acceptable before applying it to the skin.

Unidirectional

Always apply wax in one direction. Many ladies apply wax in all direction and this will cause problems. Also, only pull out the hair in one direction, opposite where the hair is growing. By pulling it out against the grain, it reduces the chances to have ingrown hair which is painful and ugly.

Rushing it through

Always remember to conduct the waxing slowly, do not rush. Waxing takes a considerable amount of time and small areas are done at each time. Do give sufficient time for the wax to sit in and harden so that it can effectively pull out the hair. By doing a small area at a time, a more positive result can be seen.

Waxing before special occasions

A very common mistake is that women tend to wax before special occasions such as a party or wedding. The waxed area will be red and it is a little embarrassing. Always try to wax at least 2 days before any event so that the area will have sufficient time to recover.

Using ice to numb the area

Many women use ice to numb the area so that they will not feel any pain. This is a huge mistake. During waxing, the area is supposed to be dry and the pores open and relaxed. Ice will shrink the pores, causing hair removal to be more difficult.

Always keep in mind these frequently made mistakes and DIY Brazilian waxing can be an enjoyable process. Take your time doing it and do not rush it through. This will allow you to achieve hair free skin and you do not need to wax often if it is done correctly.

Laser Hair Removal Results Depend Greatly on Who Performs the Treatment

Laser Hair Removal Results Depend Greatly on Who Performs the Treatment

There are numerous ways in which you can eliminate or at least reduce the amount of hair on practically any part of the body. The most common method of these is waxing or sugaring. Waxing is a process by which a heated, thick, sticky wax is applied to the skin where there is long hair and then the wax solidifies slightly if left for a few seconds. At that time the layer of wax is then removed quickly so that all the trapped hairs pull out their roots as well. It is a painful process that eliminates the hair shaft and bulb (root) in it's entirety. Of course, the hair will grow back in a few weeks and the process needs to be repeated to maintain a hairless appearance. Also of note, the hair has to be long enough to pull out so you need to let it grow a substantial length before having the procedure performed again which is not always the best cosmetic situation, especially if you have hairs on your face you don't like.

Another common method that has fallen slightly out of favour these days is electrolysis. It can be a permanent method for removing hairs and it works on all hair colour types, just as waxing does. It works by putting a very small electrode into the hair follicle shaft in the skin and then allowing electricity to flow through the tip of the electrode (very small amounts) and the result of the process is hopefully permanent and irreversible damage to the cells that help grow the hairs so they do not return. Usually this process needs to be done a number of times before we can say the treatment is permanent and the entire process is very lengthy and time consuming as you can imagine. A whole leg or back would take many hours to do and definitely cause some mild to moderate discomfort.

Today, modern medicine and technology have paired-up to invent a treatment that is both quick and effective. It is called Laser Hair Removal. The main drawback to this technology is that not all colours of hair can be treated. The reason for this is quite simple. A very brief lesson on hair removal lasers. The colour of light generated and used by the laser technician is usually 755nm or 1064nm, depending on the patients skin colour. There needs to be a significant difference between the colour of the hair and the surrounding skin. For example, the ideal patient has very light, white skin and coarse dark hair. In this situation, the laser will heat the dark hair very nicely and leave the skin unheated because the laser energy delivered to that area of skin will preferentially be absorbed by the hair due to it's colour. Imagine two cars outside in the hot sun at midday. The black car will become very hot, while the white one will be relatively cool. That is because black absorbs the light and the white car reflects it away. For a patient with darker skin, we can still treat them but we need to use a longer/different wavelength, 1064nm. We cannot however treat white, grey or red hairs with the current laser removal devices on the market regardless of what the marketing hype might say. Perhaps in a few more years we will be better able to treat all hair types and colours.

Make sure you visit an experienced, medical team for your hair removal. Mistakes happen all the time with untrained personnel and can lead to skin burns and severe scars. Don't take a chance with your skin or your health, it just makes sense.

The Big Break up Calling it Off With Stylist or Client

The Big Break up Calling it Off With Stylist or Client

It happens, things change, people grow apart, and the thrill leaves. Sounds like a breakup on a romantic level, huh? Well, we are talking about the Big Breakup between a hair stylist and client. No matter who initiates it, some breakups have to happen for everybody's well-being. Below, we highlight 2 common reasons for the stylist & client divorce and how to handle those situations. Then we give a recipe to handle most breakups between a client and stylist (can actually be used with any professional).

The client keeps canceling appointments or are never on time:

As as stylist, you have to set some ground rules. Let your clients know that you have a strict cancellation policy. If they are a new client that has cancelled more than once, tell them straight up that you can't take their appointment without a deposit because of their past behavior. If it is a regular client, remind them of your policy. If the client is repeatedly late, make it a point to let them know how long the appointment usually lasts and that they will be paying for any time over the usually. The longer the relationship. the more you will be willing to work with a client, but this should also mean that they are more aware of your policies too. If they don't get the point after your discussion, then tell them you can't do their hair anymore. You are not losing a client, but freeing up your time for clients that respect you and your time.

The stylist does not value your time:

We all hate going to a stylist that seems to be trying to figure out how they can do 20 clients at one time. Speak to the stylist, let them know that your time is valuable and you do not have time to be sitting in a salon all day. Also, let them know the repercussions of not valuing your time. It's OK to tell them that you might have to look for another stylist. Perhaps they can recommend a day and time when there is less traffic. If, after your discussion, the stylist still has not changed, start looking for a new stylist. You might have to grin and bear it for a while until you find your new hair boo, but a stylist that respects your time is a definite gem. Since you gave a warning, there is no need for a "Dear John" letter or conversation.

The Breakup Recipe

These are just two instances when a breakup is necessary. However, in any stylist-client breakup, regardless of the reason or situation, an open line of communication is important. First, let the person know the problem. Second, let them know what will happen if your gripe isn't resolved. Third, if the issue isn't that egregious, or the person is worth it, and/or the history is long, give them another chance to turn things around. Fourth, if things are turned around, wipe the slate clean. If things aren't rectified, then follow through with whatever you said you would do if it wasn't resolved. Yup, it is really that simple. Natural Beauty Tips Homemade Facials

Natural Beauty Tips Homemade Facials

With the economy the way it is today, many people are looking for shortcuts when it comes to their skin care routines. Homemade facials can definitely save you both time and money. One of the benefits of homemade facials is that they are naturally better for your skin than the chemical-filled facial preparations that are available in stores.

Making your own facial is easy to do - you'll just need to have some all-natural ingredients on hand. These ingredients are all easy to find and inexpensive to purchase at grocery stores. Facials are rejuvenating, so if you regularly have these ingredients in your home, then you may wish to give yourself a homemade facial once a week.

Before applying a homemade facial scrub, take off all of your jewelry including your earrings, because some natural substances do not react well with metal jewelry. Smooth all of your hair back from your face by using a headband. You may want to use an old bandanna if you're worried about a headband getting soiled from the facial scrub. Wash your face with your normal cleanser to remove all traces of makeup, and be sure that when applying your facial mask, you follow all of the instructions exactly. You may want to set a timer so that you know when to remove the facial scrub from your skin..

Here are some great facial recipes for you to try at home.

Milk and Cinnamon Facial: This facial consists of four ingredients that you may already have in your refrigerator and kitchen cabinet. In a bowl, mix one tablespoon of milk, ½ teaspoon of cinnamon, one tablespoon of honey, and one teaspoon of vanilla. Spread the mixture onto your face, and leave it on for 15 minutes. Then rinse it off well with warm water.

Egg and Almond Oil facial: This facial is made with a combination of just two basic ingredients: one egg and one teaspoon of almond oil. Mix the two ingredients in a bowl, and apply the scrub to your face. Leave it on for 15 minutes, then rinse it off well with cold water.

Cucumber and Mint Facial: A cucumber and mint facial is just what your skin needs to be rejuvenated. You will need a blender and four simple ingredients for this mask. In the blender, combine one half of a cucumber, five mint leaves, one tablespoon of Greek yogurt, and one tablespoon of dry milk. Leave this mixture on your face for 15 minutes, then rinse your skin well with warm water.

These natural beauty tips for creating homemade facial recipes are helpful for those who seek an organic skin care routine. You can also read a natural makeup and beauty blog for more facial recipes.

How to Create Continuity of Natural Hair Care the Client and Stylist Relationship

How to Create Continuity of Natural Hair Care the Client and Stylist Relationship

When discussing continuity of care, the topic is usually directed towards health care. The American Academy of Family Physicians defines continuity of care as "the process by which the patient and the physician are cooperatively involved in ongoing health care management toward the goal of high quality, cost-effective medical care". But could this concept translate to the area of natural hair care? The key components of the continuity of care model are: cooperative work between the professional and non-professional, on-going care management, a common goal of high quality outcome, and cost-effective care. Can the natural hair stylist & client relationship help to create and ensure continuity of care when it comes to natural hair?

Cooperative work between the professional and the Non-Professional

This component merely means that the stylist and the client must work together. Meaning, if you call on a stylist to care for your hair, you should be sure to follow the directive and guidelines that they set out for you. At the beginning it is important that the client discusses their immediate, short-term, and long-term hair goals. This will help the natural hair stylist to develop a plan of action that helps the client reach their goals. If the client and the stylist are working in concert to achieve these goals, the effort will be that much stronger and the goals will be obtained that much easier.

On-going care management

On-going care management is only achieved with consistency. The client is key in making sure this component is met. Additionally, it is important that the person providing the service is the same person. This also will ensure that the on-going care is consistent since this person is familiar with the client's hair goals and hair condition. This also helps if any deviations arise in the client's hair. Also, the consistency of having the same stylist allows for changes that need to be made to the client's Plan of Action.

A Common Goal of High quality outcome

As discussed above, if the client states their goals in the beginning, both the client and stylist know what they are striving for and working towards. Being on common grown is key when aiming for high quality outcomes.

Cost-effective care

This is the most important of them all. What is the point of going nature if it is going to bleed you dry. The client and stylist have to both be on the same page regarding the client's resources. If the client has limited resources, the stylist should be able to recommend things the client can do at home to help with keeping the hair healthy between appointments. It is important that the client and stylist have an open path of communication so the Plan of Action can be on that works and is affordable.

The key components of the continuity of care model can translate to natural hair care if both the stylist and client are on board with making it happen. Carla Denise is The Loc Doc Natural Hair is my business http://www.thelocdoc.com/ Don't settle for regular natural hair.

How to Make Your Hair Grow Faster and Longer - Everything You Need to Know

How to Make Your Hair Grow Faster and Longer - Everything You Need to Know

Why do you contemplate on "how to make your hair grow faster and longer" when shorter hair also looks good? Some women don't seem to worry about having short hair. Some even maintain wearing short hairstyles throughout their lifetime. They don't worry about running out of styles because there are so much styles that anybody can choose from. So if you will rather choose to cut your hair than long for a lengthy one, you can change hairstyle every month, perhaps every week. This is just one reason for you to consider wearing short hair.

Another reason has something to do with weather. Temperatures are rising around the world. Of course, you know about the phenomenon that is climate change. Men and women sweat exceedingly during hot days and it can really feel sticky and uncomfortable. To lessen body heat, one way is to trim or cut the hair. Many men prefer shaving off their entire hair and keep their heads bald for months.

And no one is pretty sure if it's going to be worse, or what. What is definite is: Because of climate change, more women are opting for short hair. You are lucky if you live in a temperate region. But as mentioned, no one can really determine ahead what's going to be the condition tomorrow.

How to Make Your Hair Grow Faster and Longer

Despite the explanations above, you still are determined to have long hair? Mind you, that will take months until you see a big change. And, if you are not careful enough, that will take longer.

Consider doing the following (on your bid to make your hair grow faster and longer) if you are really up to it.

Trim your hair often. This practice will make hair grow faster since trimming allows more space for growth. Trimming also reduces the presence of split ends and prevents rapid splitting. This is because trimming causes hair strands to come closer to one another, preventing too much heat to enter through. Because of this, your hair will have more conducive environment for growth.

Use deep conditioning treatments occasionally. Hydration in the insides of each strand is the purpose for this. Because of too much heat and hairstyling procedures, hair strands lose their moisture and oil. Hydration will restore shine, improve texture and give body to each and every strand of your hair.

But you should do this just occasionally - to allow the body to perform its natural function of replenishing damaged hair strands. Use conditioning treatment only as a maintenance regimen.

Comb your hair religiously. Clean your hair by combing it religiously. If you will do this often, you will also cause oil and moisture to be evenly distributed in your hair. Additionally, by combing your hair, you will stimulate nerve endings that are located in your scalp.

Above all, maintain a feeling of confidence in yourself. You are beautiful inside, that's what matters. You need to know this more than you need to have beautiful hair.

How To Apply Liquid Foundation

How To Apply Liquid Foundation

To address that issue, we will pass along some simple tips for getting right the first, and every time.

Matching Your Skin Tone With Liquid Foundation

The first step to successfully applying liquid foundation is, of course, to use the one that closely matches your skin tone. Some will choose one that is too light, or too dark, because they are not testing it properly. A lot of us have been told that the proper way to do so is to place a sample of it on the inside of the wrist, but the underside of the wrist will have a lighter tone than your face. The proper way to test for a match is to take a mirror, and test it on your face in natural light, not the glaring light of fluorescent bulbs, if possible. This will allow you to make the closest match possible, no other.

Selecting Applicators

Finding the right brush to apply liquid foundation can be somewhat difficult, as most people prefer to use fingertips, or sponges. Fingertips are fine if you are comfortable with using them, and can put up with the mess. Sponges generally absorb more of the liquid than necessary, which is a waste. The best method to get a flawless application is to use brushes, with a tapered tip, and flat bristles, and will give you a flawless, airbrushed look.

Application techniques

Depending on your personal preference, you can either prepare the liquid foundation for application by tipping some onto a metal palette, or onto the back of your hand. From there, dip a small amount of it onto the brush, and begin applying it to the middle of your face, beginning on the point where the side of your nose meets the cheek, and brush outwards towards the ear. Blend it into your skin as you go, and you will use less foundation working through any crevices. Apply with the same method on the opposite side, and finish the entire middle section of the face, before moving on to the forehead and chin.

When applying liquid foundation to the chin, do not go further than the jaw line, for a true finished look. Going beyond the jaw line will mean having to blend it in down the neck, which can also have a lighter tone than your face. When applying foundation to the forehead, begin between the eyes, and brush upwards towards the hairline.

Finishing And Fixing Mistakes

Take a close look at your work, and see if you can spot areas where the tone is slightly darker, or lighter. Lighter means you missed a spot, darker indicates too much. Now it would be best to blend with fingers, as the brush may still contain liquid foundation, and only make it worse. Joshua Adekane is an devoted beauty blogger. Permanent Hair Removal With Laser - Intense Pulsed Light or Variable Pulsed Light?

Permanent Hair Removal With Laser Intense Pulsed Light or Variable Pulsed Light

Which Permanent Hair Removal Treatment to Choose: Laser, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) or Variable Pulsed Light (VPL). Learn about the different permanent hair removal techniques used by clinics and salons. We review the most popular devices, such as Laser, IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) or VPL (Variable Pulsed Light). Find out which one is right for you. Would you like to remove unwanted hair on your legs, underneath your arms, and around your bikini line

Do you shave, use creams, wax or pluck, and not happy? For a long lasting effect it is best to do laser hair removal at a salon or clinic. They have specific devices, such as a laser, IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) or VPL (Variable Pulsed Light) machines.

Lasering

In this technique the laser device emits light. The energy behind the light is absorbed by the pigment of your hair and brings it forth to the hair follicle, which is then destroyed.

Typical there is five to eight treatments with an interval of one to two months. Laser is practically painless and you only feel a pinprick. If your skin is a bit darker than the therapy can be slightly painful and you have extra chance of skin discoloration.

Do you have blond, red or gray hair, then laser remedy is less effective? Eumelanin is a form of pigment that absorbs the laser light, absent in these types of hair colors. Subsequently, the lighter your skin, the better the outcome.

As soon as treatment is done, your skin must be cooled with a cool pack or cooling gel. Initially after your therapy, steer clear of the sun and avoid getting sunburned.

Do not get laser treatment if you are pregnant, have epilepsy, or take any light-sensitive medication or anti-inflammatory drugs. Do you have implants, piercing, or tattoos in the treatment location? Then reconsider laser treatment.

Physicians in a clinic usually do laser hair removal. The price varies on the type of treatment. One particular treatment is the upper lip which can cost about $100, and other larger parts of the body may be a few hundred dollars and more.

IPL - (Intense Pulsed Light)

Explain here is the IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatment compared to the laser treatment. IPL works on the pigment of the hair causing the hair follicles to be destroyed. The hair is exposed to light flashes, also known as Xenon lamp.

Even though a laser can be far more effective by the powerful intensity of the beam, the IPL treatment is less expensive. The cost of treatment strongly depends on the body hair that is removed. For example, removing hair from your upper lip could cost around $40 per therapy, removing hair from your legs, it could cost you an average of $200.

Do you have dark hair and light skin, then this system is not suitable for you? Removal of blonde or red hair is nearly impossible with IPL. This is due to the fact these hairs need sufficient energy to permanently destroy hair folic.

Are you pregnant, do you have epilepsy, take anti-inflammatory drugs or have piercing, tattoos or implants in the area where hair is being removed, then do not IPL?

The number of remedies depends on the quantity of hair to be treated. Average person for a reasonable outcome has five to eight sessions. The intervals, depending on the individual, maybe 4-6 weeks.

VPL - (Variable Pulsed Light)

Comparing VPL (Variable Pulsed Light) to IPL, VPL is the most current and safest process for hair removal. VPL is more accurate compares to Laser or IPL, due to the fact that VPL reaches the hair more quickly. This treatment spared the surrounding skin and reduces overheating. An overheated skin may result from laser and IPL treatments.

VPL works on practically all hair and skin types. Typical you have about six and eight sessions, with an interval of four to eight weeks.

The cost for a VPL therapy depends on the affected areas and the number of light flashes. Many salons and clinics have no consultation fees, and most prices are accurately calculated. Typical prices for VPL are slightly higher than IPL treatments.

I have been doing a lot of research on Laser Hair Removal. I have additional information at: Laser Hair Removal Cost and at: Laser Hair Removal

The Advantages and Disadvantages of Laser Hair Removal

The Advantages and Disadvantages of Laser Hair Removal

For centuries, women as well as men have tried different ways to get rid of unwanted hair. Basically, there are two types of methods to remove unwanted hair. The first one is temporary and the other one is permanent. Some examples of temporary hair removal methods are shaving, plucking, threading, waxing, sugaring and using depilatory creams. Although quick and inexpensive, its results only last for a couple of days. They also require more upkeep than permanent hair removal methods. Permanent hair removal methods, on the other hand such as electrolysis, thermolysis and laser are the best options in removing unwanted hair in the body. Contrary to popular belief, the results of these methods are not literally permanent, but it is definitely long lasting as compared to temporary methods. Permanent hair removal are getting more and more popular these days, but are they really worth it? Let's take a closer look at one of the most popular permanent hair removal method which is the laser. To help you decide whether it's all worth the hype and price, let me share to you the advantages and disadvantages of laser hair removal. Besides, there are always two sides of a coin. Here are some of them.

ADVANTAGES

1. Its results are long lasting. In laser, light is used in the particular area where the hair needs to be removed. This light gets absorbed and destroys the root of the hair. Since this treatment works on the root, it "stalls" the growth of the hair making the results last for a long long time.

2. It is quicker and more efficient as compared to temporary removal techniques. A large area of the body is covered with the light making the removal process much faster.

3. It is relatively painless. You might feel tiny snapping sensations in some sensitive areas such as the bikini and underarm area. But in other areas of the body, you won't feel too much pain. Waxing, is actually more painful than laser.

4. It can be used for any body part. With laser, you can get hair removed from any part of your body. It works like a charm on sensitive areas such as bikini, breasts, face and underarms.

5. It is safe. Laser is safe to use. It does not cause skin cancer or other skin diseases.

DISADVANTAGES

1. It is very expensive. Laser can really burn a hole in one's pocket and not everyone can afford it.

2. It requires several sessions to see the results. Usually, you will need about six sessions to totally zap the hair from the root and stall the hair's growth.

3. It won't work on all skin types. Laser won't work on people of color or those with sensitive skin. It does not work on some hair types as well.

In search of good hair removal products in the market? Go weeks without shaving and get long-lasting results with the No No hair removal system. Guaranteed to be painless and effective, No No hair remover lets you achieve long-lasting professional results in the comforts of your own home.

The current must be applied to one follicle at a time to damage the follicle so that it never re-grows the hairs. Electrolysis is affordable and effective and also having potential drawbacks; which don't allow everyone to choose. It is a way of removing individual hairs from face or body. Let Aquage Hair Products Bring Your Hair Back to Life This Spring

Let Aquage Hair Products Bring Your Hair Back to Life This Spring

Looking to breathe new life into your hair this spring? As the seasons change, the opportunity to change up your look arises - and for many, this proves the perfect time to chop it all off, or cut bangs, or dye it a new color. Many choose to embrace the change in the seasons by dying their hair accordingly; in the fall, they go darker, in the spring and summer, they lighten it up a bit. But giving your hair new life isn't just about sprucing up your style - it's also about bringing your tired, lifeless strands back to life, injecting them with the nourishing ingredients needed to keep you looking your best as soon as you step out the door. A good series of hair products is the key to bringing your hair back to life this spring.

Winter does a number on your hair. Ultra cold air outside, lots of wind, and ultra dry air inside in the evenings - no matter how much you attempt to moisturize and keep things under control, the truth is, your hair isn't built to handle such harsh weather. It's the same thing with heat styling and intense product buildup. Your hair simply isn't built to handle such stressors, so when it's overloaded with them, it gives up. That's when you get the strands that simply won't untangle, the ones that break age the bottom and frizz at the top. When the weather has wrecked havoc on your hair, it can be hard to get it back in fighting shape. However, when spring turns the corner and heads into first base, it's time to get things in order - because soon, you'll be donning cute sundresses and strapless maxi dresses and your hair will take center stage. No more tucking it under a hat and hoping for the best, or throwing it into a topknot so you can rock your adorable fur earmuffs. Spring and summer are the seasons where your hair really rocks it out, so you've got to get your locks back to normal before it's too late!

It starts with protecting your hair in the winter months. To get the hair you're looking for come spring, you have to start in the winter. Here are some helpful tips: start with a leave in conditioner and protective oils. Leave in conditioners and protective treatments operate as a coat for your hair during the harsh months - when the damage inflicted by your curling and straightening irons can be even worse than usual. Another great tip is to let your hair air dry whenever you can. For those of us that shower in the morning right before work, in freezing weather, a blow dry is necessary - but on the weekends, or for evening shower folks, a great option is to let your hair air dry, saving it from the hot air - which helps seal in the moisture from your shampoo and conditioner.

If this isn't enough, consider hitting up your local salon for a deep conditioning treatment at least once a month. If you can't afford the salon treatment, there are plenty of deep conditioning treatments to be found in the drugstore - simply choose your favorite and let it sit on your hair for five to ten minutes before you rinse out. Aquage Hair Products offer a line of great conditioning treatments, and sulfate-free shampoos that will repair dry winter locks and bring them up to spring speed! Need an option that costs nothing at all? Wash your hair less. This tip doesn't just cost nothing - it helps you save! Frizz results from a lack of moisture, and damaged strands are often the product of too much washing, so give your hair a break! Let it rest. Wash your hair every other day, and save both water and dollar bills.

If you follow these tips during the winter months, your locks will arrive at spring well taken care of and ready to shine. Now, it's time to spruce them up for their leading role in your spring wardrobe. Need a little bit of extra oomph? Try the volumizing treatment, which uses weightless, bodybuilding micro-foam that penetrates the core of the hair shaft to infuse it with proteins, essential nutrients and sea botanicals - all of which enhance body, strength and shine. This great product isn't just a conditioner, but a product that penetrates your hair for extra strength without weighing it down, so you get the bouncy body that you've been looking for spring. This product is also great for those with chemically treated hair, as are all of the line's products. With great products, it's easy to mend split ends and relegate frizz back where it belongs: anywhere but your hair. Well-moisturized, shiny locks with bounce and little to no frizz allow you to shine this spring - and all you need are a few great products. What are you waiting for. 5 Beauty Frenemies

5 Beauty Frenemies

Everyone knows what frenemies are. They are the people who are both our friends and enemies at the same time. Maybe Asians understand this better, since although our classmates in school are our friends, we're also enemies in terms of competing for higher grades. Frenemies are people who cannot do without each other and somehow strike a balance between love and hate for each other.

In the world of beauty, frenemies exist as well. These are products that some of us just cannot live without but we also know that they aren't all that good. At the moment, I can think of 5 of them. They aren't strangers to the style-savvy girl but nonetheless, here are the culprits:

1) Facial Blotters

Blotting sheets are the Number One frenemy that we all know! They do their job and take care of the midday shine better than anything else but in their wake they create a vicious cycle and a never-ending dependence on them. Oh those poor, unknowing souls. Somebody should tell them that blotters take away too much oil and end up confusing our hormones and resulting in them glands producing even more oil! Maybe once in a while, such as on a special occasion like your big day, blotting sheets are a girl's best friend. But for normal day-to-day activities, these should really just be avoided!

2) Hair Straighteners or Curlers

Everybody knows these as well. They come in different sizes for different purposes - big curls, tight curls, convenience for travel. Even if the plates are made of "high grade ceramic," it's still essentially applying extremely high heat in direct contact with our manes. This is why some girls walk around with dry hair akin to the withered hay in the Serengeti which the wildebeest no longer even sees as food. A hair straightener can give us styles that would otherwise cost a bomb to re-create at the hair salon but it isn't terribly healthy either, I'm afraid. Apply a protective mask and let it absorb before attacking with the pretty burner if you can help it. And then again, having wiry hair is still better than having no hair.

3) Cotton Pads

I don't think a girl ever travels without these soft, fluffy things. They're great for removing makeup - especially when you've done it up wrong and need a quick fix - and applying toner. However, cotton pads are just like sponges in the sense that they absorb anything that's placed on them. If you're the kind who puts some toner onto the cotton pad before wiping it over your face, you're doing it wrong. The same goes for makeup removal. Because these greedy things take away your expensive liquids, you end up using less than what you should otherwise be. My advice? Never use a cotton swab of any kind when applying your toner. To take away the day's grime, apply makeup remover directly onto your skin (I highly recommend Shu Uemura's oil cleansers), wait for a while and then use the cotton pad to wipe it off after.

4) Acrylic Manicures

You can't help but stare. Those intricately-designed, artificial talons. Who cares if they're plastic; They look gorgeous. If we can have flowers on our dresses, we very well can have flowers on our nails too! And snow flakes, Swarovski crystals, polka dots and spider webs. But having acrylic nails done kills and destroys our natural ones in the process. Removing them is difficult as well and is best done at the nail salon. It's true, they look pretty and last for a long time but getting them involves dangerous fumes and they can be difficult to grow out. If you take care of your own nails, acrylics are unnecessary, even if you need va va vroom nails for prom night. And if you're pregnant, please don't even consider this!

5) Teeth Whitening Strips

I've been there, done that. In fact, the only brand of teeth whitening strips I've used are from Crest and, well, what's there not to like about a bright smile? These strips are simple to use and prove effective after several treatments, which don't have to last the entire box worth of strips. But these strips contain concentrated chemicals to bleach what toothpaste has failed to. This can be too harsh for our gentle gums, and can erode enamel. While I can't say not to use these, especially since I use them from time to time myself, try not to let the strips go too near the gums and when sensitivity kicks in, use them more sparingly.
