Introducing Micro Laser Peel The Next Evolution of Skin Rejuvenation

Introducing Micro Laser Peel The Next Evolution of Skin Rejuvenation

The introduction of the skin treatment known as Micro Laser Peel has raised cosmetic skin resurfacing and skin rejuvenation to a whole new level. Easily done on an outpatient basis, with a much faster recovery time, has made it one of the most popular treatments available today. In addition, potential side effects usually known for laser skin treatments are minimal if they happen at all and it can be done on a much wider range of skin tones and colors than ever before.

How It Works

Administered much simpler than most laser peel treatments, the Micro Laser Peel treatment can be done in the doctor's office quickly. It requires only the administration of a numbing cream to the treated area if the patient requests it for the purpose of comfort. To prepare for treatment, most doctors will advise their patients to forgo any hair removal treatments, the use of any medications that could interfere with the healing process, and limit sun exposure to the skin for at least two weeks prior.

During the procedure, a laser whose wavelength is reduced to only penetrate the outermost layer of skin will be used to gently peel away the first layer of skin to reduce wrinkles and fine lines, alter any discolorations, and improve the appearance of acne scars. The overall affect once the skin heals within a couple of days is a more youthful appearance, glowing with health and hardly any sign of the skin abnormalities that were treated.

After Care and Healing

As with most laser skin resurfacing, there will be peeling and the skin may appear to be a bit swollen or red. The use of a specially prepared topical ointment will reduce the redness or swelling within a day and the peeling should be complete within three to four days. It is also advised that exposure to the sun's rays be limited and if necessary, to use a good sun block agent to reduce further damage.

Limitations on Treatment

Not everyone can qualify for this type of skin treatment, however. Pregnant women in particular are advised against it, at least until after they given birth, because of the use of ultraviolet rays during the procedure. It also cannot be used on skin that has had permanent makeup applied or tattoos. The presence of any active skin infection, like rosacea or acne, will also preclude undergoing this treatment, at least until the infection clears up.

Benefits and Risks

The likelihood of infection or other risks with this treatment is very low. The customized wavelength of the laser prevents any potential damage to any layer of the skin below the surface, so even the chance of aggravated swelling is reduced and there is very little pain involved. If it is uncomfortable, request the numbing agent before continuing.

The benefits of a MicroLaserPeel treatment can be seen almost immediately. The skin regains a youthful appearance and texture that is visible within hours after treatment and the peeling ends fairly quickly, with full healing achieved within three to four days. Acne scars can be altered and diminished and even the toughest discoloration of the skin can be altered. Patients with skin tones and shades that cannot be helped by other laser treatments find that their overall appearance afterwards is much more uniform within the first day of healing. Finally, this treatment is not limited to just the face, but can be used on any part of the body that needs it.
