Red Carpet Make Up Tips

Red Carpet Make Up Tips

Red carpet looks are often one of the most glamorous things that you can ever see. Celebrities would look very stunning, with their long gowns and flawless faces. However, what most of us don't know is that it takes a lot (and I mean a lot) of meticulous efforts in order to get the look that they want. If you want to translate the red carpet glamour look into the most casual of occasions, there are a few tricks that you can do in order to get the right look.

1. Coverage

Wanna know the secret why celebrities looks so flawless in the red carpet? They do lots of layers! They cover each and every imperfection with concealer, foundation and whatnot. The reason why this is so it's because they are exposed to bright lights. While this may not be appropriate on the street, you can tone down on the layering. Choose a light foundation if you don't have anything to cover. A concealer can take care of stubborn spots. You don't need to put on a ton of foundation in order to achieve a perfect look.

2. Highlights

Once placed on strategic points on the face, highlights have the ability to make your face glow. A highlighter contains shimmery particles that accentuate the face when light hits on them. Use a highlighter to put some brightness on your face. Apply it on the highest part of your forehead (for those who have small foreheads), the bridge of your nose, the highest part of your cheekbones, and lastly, your browbone.

3. Contour

Foundation can make your face appear flat, so that is why contouring helps in accentuating key features of your face and make them look more dimensional on camera. Try to use a matte bronzer, or a foundation that is a couple of shades darker than your skin tone. Contour the sides of your nose, forehead, the hollows of your cheeks and your jawline. Be sure to blend well.

4. Make Up

Red carpet make up is understandably heavy because the light can wash out the color. Heavy, smokey and sultry lips make you look glamorous. However, this may be too tacky during regular days. Instead downplay the eye make up by choosing metallic shades and use an eyeliner and mascara to accentuate your eyes. If you love having red lips, try a lip stain instead. Dab a little on your pucker and then build it up until you have achieved your desired look.

Make up can definitely do its magic by covering any imperfections and highlighting the features of your face. Now that you know all of the red carpet secrets of celebrities, you can definitely do your own version. You will surely look oh-so gorgeous. Reena Mariel, author of Beauty Is My Duty, your online resource for beauty tips and tricks for the average girl..
