Some would like to argue the point that there is very little difference in the function of skin of color and white skin. However, there are many various distinctions (both good and bad) between brown skin and white skin.

Characteristics Unique to Skin of Color Include the Following:

Nothing good comes without a price. In order to reap the benefits of being part of such a diverse family of ethnic people with resilient, beautiful, glowing skin, we must also accept the challenges our skin presents.

It's all well worth it. With the discovery of natural and effective skin care ingredients made available to us today, it will become easier to meet these challenges with a greater chance of success.

We just have to stay informed, be selective, and utilize the many wonderful gifts available to us from mother nature. What's also unique about darker skin, particularly women of African descent, is that there are more than approximately 30 shades within our sector as opposed to only 6-8 shades within the white female sector.

The wonderful thing about the rich color of our skin, is that it is not only physically appealing, it is also healthier for us by reducing the incidence of long term sun damage as well as lowering the risk of skin cancer and sun burn.

To preserve the richness, vitality and health of our skin, it is important to use adequate sun protection on darker skin as part of a daily skin care regimen. In addition, one of the many physically appealing and unique attributes to our skin is that we don't have to go to a tanning salon.

The latter is usually not a concern for darker skin types. That's at least one less matter to be concerned about.

We also don't have to slather on suntan lotions, or bake in the sun to achieve the warm, youthful, glowing skin often sought after by people with much lighter complexions.
