Sexy Skin Revealed

By now, you should know that antioxidants are your cells' knights in shining armor and keep them healthy. If your cells are healthy, so are you and of course, so is your skin. For this reason, in order to maximize the results, it is best to take antioxidants in any way shape or form. One of the options is in skin care formulations, such as in cleansers or moisturizers or other skin care products.

You may ask yourself, "Is it safe to put on my skin?" In general, antioxidant skin care products are basically considered to be organic in nature. How come? It's because the most powerful antioxidants are normally plant derivatives. For this reason, it is safe to put them on your skin. While your body is receiving antioxidants from your diet and other sources, it is also recommended to simultaneously use topical skin care products in which they are incorporated. This will allow your skin to receive beneficial ingredients directly through your pores, resulting in faster absorption. As a result, your skin is guaranteed to maximize the benefits by enjoying proper care from the outside while an antioxidant-rich diet works from within.

Antioxidant skin care products have the ability to naturally change the appearance of your skin. Let's briefly go over the top 5 benefits they can provide:

1. Slows down the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Unfortunately fine lines and wrinkles are inevitable however, it is possible to delay the onset of their appearance or help make them less visible once slightly present. Antioxidant skin care products actually have the ability to help revitalize the skin and allow it to appear more youthful. The appearance of fines lines and wrinkles can be reduced with most antioxidants however there are two of them that are known to be more beneficial to the skin: Vitamin C and E. It's important to realize that creams that are normally applied to the eye contour (to reduce crow's feet, for example) seem to contain these vitamins as part of their ingredients.

2. Reduces inflammation.

A second reason why antioxidants in skin care products are beneficial is because of their ability to calm inflammation. For instance, grape seed extract, which is probably one of the most effective antioxidants (if not the most), produces anti-inflammatory results by aiding blood circulation and cell metabolism. As a result, the inflammation-reducing capabilities of antioxidants skin care products lead to a skin complexion that is more even and also helps prevent the onset of acne.

3. Makes the skin firmer.

Antioxidant skin care brings about a third top benefit, known as skin firming. The effects or symptoms of aging may be significantly slowed down by antioxidants which have the ability to not only improve the health of your skin but more importantly to visibly rejuvenate its appearance. Namely, Coenzyme Q10 is a common type of skin-firming antioxidant that plays a particularly important role in regenerating vitamin E. It is often found in serums or moisturizers and is great for use in products meant to tone the skin.

4. Reduces scarring.

Topical antioxidants carry a fourth benefit to the skin-reducing the appearance of scar tissue. One point that is often overlooked is the fact that the cell structure of tissue that has been scarred is different than that of healthy skin. You may have noticed it yourself when you get a cut, for instance. Before it is completely healed, the skin tends to look and feel more rigid. However, certain types of antioxidants found in skin care products can help increase the blood flow to the scar tissue, thus minimizing its look while skin renewal occurs.

5. Repairs sun damage.

Last but not least, the fifth top benefit of antioxidant skin care products is the ability to repair sun damage. As mentioned in one of my blog posts entitled "What Everyone Wants to Know About Sunscreens", some exposure to sun is not dangerous (contrary to what most people believe). However, overexposure definitely damages skin cells, impacting your skin's overall appearance and leaving it looking and feeling dry. Since antioxidants stimulate blood circulation to the skin, it can promote cell renewal and therefore help repair sun-damaged skin and allow it to appear younger.

So we have seen how antioxidant skin care products can provide great benefits and leave you with sexy skin, free of scars, signs of aging and damage. Now you might think to yourself, OK, well, all I have to do now is buy skin care products that are packed with antioxidants and then I'm good to go!

Guess what? Sorry to burst your bubble but, although it can definitely help improve your skin's appearance, it is still not enough. It is only the first step to achieving beautiful skin and it is, unfortunately, insufficient. For you to be able to obtain true results there is a second step that must be completed in the process and it is, in my opinion, even more important than the first. Yes, obtaining natural glowing skin is twofold. We have just focused on the outside. Now let's focus on the inside.
