Is Your Dry Skin and Lackluster Hair Affecting Your Self Confidence? The Answer May Be Drip Away

The quest for perfectly lustrous, soft and styled hair is a riddle in which the solution has long eluded the male population. Guys, it's not your fault. You just aren't hip to our passion for the perfect hair. It's evident when you scoff at our incurable dismay during the dreaded 'bad hair days' like it's no big deal that we still aren't closer to understanding each other. But curly or straight, long or short, a woman's desired look is that of soft, shiny and natural tresses (and impeccable skin)! You know, like we woke up a glowing goddess.

Martin Luther said, "Hair is the richest ornament of women." And he was right. An ornament or decoration says something about the person who showcases it. A woman showcasing healthy, smooth hair and skin is exuding confidence. A woman ready to face the day is a stark contrast to one who is nervously trying to smooth, tuck or otherwise hide her dull, lifeless hair. Nothing looks better than healthy hair and skin - period. Lions even choose their mates based on the luxury of their manes. (There is something to be said in that. Healthy hair looks great on you guys, too!)

It has been said that men are subconsciously attracted to women with long, polished locks because it signifies fertility. I think women subconsciously strive for that. Call it our animal instincts. There is something powerfully impressive about strong, radiant hair that makes guys stop and stare (and girls stop and covet).

Our obsession has led to countless dollars spent on high-end shampoos, conditioners, balms, oil, etc. You name it, and we've tried it. Here's a freebie from a hair-passionate woman to you gentlemen of the world. Earn yourself points and help out your special someone by pointing out the most surprising component of the roadblock on her road to great hair - Water.

It's hard to believe that something so fundamental would be overlooked in an art that women have worked so long to fine tune, but it's true. If you're living one of the 85% of American homes that have hard water, you probably never even considered the alternative. As far as hair and skin health goes, the answer is in the water. Hard water has a high mineral content, making it harder to get clean. That means it's harder on your hair and leaves skin covered in a pore-clogging layer of soap scum.

Dry, rough skin and lackluster hair that falls flat doesn't have to be the norm. Luckily, there are a variety of water filtration systems available that turn hard water into soft water. Soft water is mineral-free water that won't dry out your skin and hair. Shampoo and soap emulsifies easily with soft water, letting you use less of those expensive products (bonus!) and get clean faster. Soft water doesn't dry out the natural oils in your body, and you're left with skin you don't need to lather in lotions. One little soft water suggestion will show her you understand (even if you don't) and save her skin, her hair, and her time.

There are many different types of water softeners available. Some use salt, others are saltless. Always have a home evaluation before purchasing a water softener.
